The pictures are heartbreaking. Another throw-away hound dog wondering if there’s life outside of four small walls. Who knows their real story or how much suffering they endured, but it doesn’t matter anymore. We see you. And, we’re determined to give you a better tomorrow.
Long Ears Alive!
It all began in 2012, when we received a plea regarding a stray Kentucky hound named Jethro suffering from severe dental disease. We raised $300 towards his veterinary care and secured a caring adopter. This novel idea provided the framework for our Long Ears Alive! (LEA) fund, a unique program that facilitates the rescue and adoption of sheltered hounds by providing direct-to-vet payments for sick, injured, senior and pregnant/lactating coonhounds, foxhounds, and hound mixes via pledges ranging from $150 -$500.
To date, LEA has funded over $90,000 for 814 hounds located across the United States. Your donation, no matter how small, really does make a difference, and fuels our belief that every stray, sheltered and abandoned hound deserves a fighting chance at a better tomorrow.

Bernie (pictured above and formerly known as Lance) received $250 from LEA towards treatment of a chronic skin disease. This gentle Plotthound was rescued in July 2025 by Saving Webster Dogs (WV) and is now thriving with his adoptive family.

Valued at $175, Gayle will create a timeless portrait (from your photo) on either a stretched gallery-wrapped canvas or archival paper (ready to frame).
